A course by Alex Singleton (University of West London/Ruskin College Oxford)

For learners who would like to draw in footsteps of Post War Artists such as John Piper and Paul Nash.

Using expression to aid emotive landscapes.

In this drawing course I would like the learner to understand how to express landscapes, including urban landscapes through expressive mark making and observation. We will talk about some of the Post War artists from the 20th century and find out what they did to create the sublime, often dystopian landscapes. We will hold a magnifying glass up to a Joh Piper drawing, dissect it and use the marks-stealing like a magpie to generate our own masterpieces.
